Just a few days ago, 17 of CHF’s partner municipalities’ in the West Bank signed 17 memorandums of understanding with 17 partner municipalities’ across the West Bank with CHF, local partner Sharek, and Ministry of Local Government to enhance the role of Palestinian youth in the local governance sector through Youth Shadow Local Councils, democratically elected bodies that coordinate with and learn from their respective municipal councils. Representatives from the Palestinian Government, USAID, and other representatives were present. CHF piloted the initiative of the Youth Shadow Local Councils in four communities in 2008, and expanded to an additional nine communities with Sharek Youth Forum in 2010. The initiative continues now under the USAID-funded Local Government & Infrastructure program and will expand to an additional seven communities in 2013, for a total of 20 target communities.
CHF International in partnership with the Engineers Association Jerusalem Center (EAJC), organized a "Construction Management Training" for 56 engineers who learnt new skills and techniques regarding the field of Construction management, procurement processes, and contract management (FIDIC). The Engineering Fellows Program is part of the Local Government and Infrastructure Program (LGI), funded by USAID.
This week, CHF International and the Ministry of Education in the West Bank distributed prizes to 21 students from Abu Dis and Jalqamous schools for honoring the best Journal and/or drawings reflecting their experience in the Green Apple Day of Service in the fall of 2012 under the local government and infrastructure program (LGI) funded by USAID . Their writings and drawings reflected their understanding of environmental themes, including re-use of material for school beautification or the importance of Green Building and protecting the environment.

March 12,2013- CHF International signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with the Palestinian Contractors Union (PCU)
February 28-2013- Beit Fajjar: About 400 youth in Beit Fajjar elected the 13 Youth Shadow Local Council (YSLC) members of which five were females, surpassing the quota by two. This initiative is funded by USAID and implemented by CHF International in partnership with Sharek under the Local Government and Infrastructure Program.
